The memory of it
Lemuria is a lost continent that science itself invented and then abandoned. It was first proposed in the 1800s to explain why lemur fossils turn up on lands now separated by ocean, and later adopted by Blavatsky and the mystics as a vanished cradle of humanity. We grade it as speculation, clearly. Plate tectonics later explained the fossils with no need for a sunken continent, so as geology Lemuria is dead. Its value to us is as a case study in how ideas mutate — a sober scientific guess becoming an occult legend within a generation. We include it to be honest about the lineage of these stories, and to mark the exact line our project refuses to cross: keep the wonder, but keep the label.
